Biography | Katy Boyd
- singer / songwriter Katy Boyd is an American country singer/songwriter who began writing songs at the age of 12. Influenced by the great Joan Baez and the American folk scene, she was performing in coffee houses and music clubs from the age of 15. In the mid 1980's Katy won a songwriting contest in California and found herself the subject of much media and public attention. The recordings that followed were met with much critical acclaim. Katy moved to in England in 1985 for a contract with Virgin records. Taking a break from performing in the 1990s, Katy began to divide her time between films and music, her short films being featured in film festivals in the UK and Europe. Click on the box at the bottom on the left to see one. Now living in Dorset, she continues to be an active singer/songwriter and still has numerous songs recorded by American artists. Katy also spends much time as a photographer, graphic artist and video/film maker. Check out the netcracker website to see some more of her work. Katy can currently be found all over the South West of England playing in a duo with the great Benny Wain on fiddle. |
